Desperate Housewives – Latest Casting News

Cynthia Watros is going back to her nutcase roots. The House and Lost actress — who picked up an Emmy in 1998 for portraying psycho stalker Annie Dutton on Guiding Light — is headed to Desperate Housewives to play Bree’s (literally) crazy friend, sources confirm to me exclusively.

We’ll meet Watros’s character in Housewives’ ninth episode when she accompanies Bree and new boytoy Keith (Brian Austin Green) on a double date. Rumor has it Watros’ escort for the evening is Keith’s pa, played by John Schneider.

Watros will juggle her one-episode Housewives stint with her current recurring role as Wilson’s ex-wife-turned-girlfriend Sam on House.

It looks like things are getting serious between Desperate Housewives and Brian Austin Green: The ABC soap is giving his newbie character a family.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Housewives boss Marc Cherry has tapped John Schneider to play the father of Green’s Bree-crushing contractor, Keith.

I’m told Schneider will appear in multiple episodes, beginning with this season’s seventh. Housewives kicks off its seventh season on Sept. 26.

Let’s hope she fares better in Fairview than she did in Bon Temps.

After being brutally butchered in True Blood’s first season as Sookie and Jason Stackhouse’s Granny Adele, veteran actress Lois Smith is headed to Wisteria Lane. Lois, 79, will debut in Desperate Housewives’ fifth new episode as Allison Scavo, who moves in to Lynette and Tom’s home to help son Tom (Doug Savant) get over a unique case of male postpartum depression.

“I was really excited to get Lois; I’ve been a fan of her work for years,” says Housewives creator Marc Cherry, singling out her performances in Minority Report and a TV production of Grapes of Wrath. “One of the perks of this job is that I get to work with these wonderful actors from time to time.”

Lois joins is an impressive roster of actresses who have breezed through Fairview as moms to the Housewives characters, including Carol Burnett (as Bree’s stepmom) and Polly Bergen (as Lynette’s boozy mama).

Cherry describes Allison as “a very traditional homemaker whose ideas of what women should be to their husbands really smacks right against Lynette’s more modern views of womanhood.” So far, Lois is slated for two episodes.

Who was your favorite Desperate Housewives guest parent?

Batter up! Desperate Housewives has placed Life Unexpected actor Reggie Austin on deck to portray the New York baseball star husband of Vanessa Williams’ new housewife, Renee Perry. Reggie will not debut until the fifth episode of the new season, as Doug and Renee’s marriage is sadly on the rocks.

In addition to his role as Jamie on The CW’s Life Unexpected, Reggie also appeared as Devon on the short-lived Debra Messing series, The Starter Wife.

With Renee now attached to boy toys played by 31-year-old Reggie and 37-year-old Brian Austin Green (as Fairview’s new contractor), super sexy Williams, 47, is fast on her way to turning Wisteria Lane into TV’s new Cougar Town.

Desperate Housewives – Secrets From The New Season

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Desperate Housewives Season 7 : “Desperate Housewives” returns for its seventh season this fall and Executive Producer Marc Cherry tells ET, “The secrets get darker, the action gets juicier and I am going to try to make it sexier!”

ET was on Wisteria Lane as the seventh season began filming to get the inside scoop on what lies ahead for Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker), Bree (Marcia Cross), Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Lynette (Felicity Huffman).

“What we start to deal with in the first episode is the ramifications of something we have been holding back for six seasons,” Marc says. “[Gaby] finally finds out that Andrew [Shawn Pyfrom] — Bree’s son — ran over her mother-in-law. That starts to affect their friendship in a major way.”

That hit-and-run accident may be old news, but there will be another hit-and-run in the second episode of the new season, putting the two families into conflict a second time.

The sexier action — and Marc jokes that Bree may have a red bra in her future — will be added by Brian Austin Green, who will be a working-class guy who becomes Bree’s new love interest.

Also joining the cast this season is Vanessa Williams, who will be playing the wife of a professional athlete who is having marital problems.

“She has money and style but her background is different [than Gabby's],” Marc says. “We are introducing her as Lynette’s best frenemy from college, so she comes and shines some light on Lynette’s choices. It is some of the best bitchy dialogue we have had on this show!”

Returning to Wisteria Lane after a term in prison is Paul Young [Mark Moses], who was framed by Felicia Tilman [Harriet Sansom Harris] for murder. Felicia disappeared after cutting off two of her fingers, making it appear as if Paul was responsible for her demise. Paul returned at the very end of season six, renting Susan and Mike’s [James Denton] house, now that finances have forced them to move into an apartment.
“We are going to find out how he was released from jail and that storyline will play out through the year,” Marc says.

And don’t be surprised if Betty White makes a visit to Wisteria Lane. She and Marc worked together on “Golden Girls,” and he says, “I adore Betty. If there is any way to do it, I would love to have Betty on the show. It is something that would make my heart very happy.”

Desperate Housewives” returns for its seventh season on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m.

Desperate Housewives – Casting News

To help explain how the villainous Paul Young is a free man and back living on Wisteria Lane after being sent away for murder, ABC’s Desperate Housewives has called upon Frasier alum Harriet Sansom Harris to appear again on screen as wicked Felicia Tilman. “We are definitely going to show Harriet on the show,” a source confirms to me exclusively. “We will be using her to clarify how Paul got out of jail.”

As I understand it, Harriet’s reappearance will be brief compared to Mark Moses, whose Paul is back full time as the new renter of Mike and Susan’s Wisteria Lane home. Felicia, a nurse of questionable character, arrived in Fariview back in 2005 to avenge Paul’s murder of her sister, Martha Huber and has not been seen since 2006. Ultimately, Paul was convicted not of Mrs. Huber’s murder, but of the murder of Felicia, who faked her own demise — going so far as to sever her own finger to plant as Exhibit #1. “Felicia set him up and then disappeared,” reminds Mark. “She succeeded. But if he got out of prison, I think we can assume the reason is that he was no longer found guilty — because his victim isn’t dead.”

My guess is that Paul used his new wife, Beth, who first made contact with Paul while he was still incarcerated, to expose Felicia’s demented scheme. But Beth may have gotten more than she bargained for. “I’m not sure she realized when she married him that he’d actually get out, because usually this type of woman marries convicts who are in prison for life,” Mark says. “So life could now hold all sorts of surprises for them both.”

And how might Paul’s dead wife, Mary Alice Young, who lives on as the show’s all-knowing narrator, react to her widower’s remarriage? “I don’t know how they react in the hereafter, but she’ll probably be sort of wistful, not vengeful,” Mark believes. “I think when you’re up in the heavens, you view life in a very detached, humorous way.”

Mark’s return could prove a fitting bookend to fans should the series see its original cast of Housewives (who have yet to sign contracts for an eighth season) depart Wisteria Lane at the end of this upcoming seventh year. “I had lunch with (series creator) Mark Cherry who gave me an idea of some of the fun stuff he wants Paul to do,” says Mark. “It’s going to be a great run and very interesting to see which of the housewives still think Paul’s guilty and which won’t. And just why is he coming back to Wisteria Lane?”

Yep, he’s hatching a plot! Let’s just hope no one loses a finger this time.

Who is being replaced on Desperate Housewives? Going into its seventh season, the ABC series is looking for a new Penny, the daughter of Tom and Lynette Scavo. Kendall Applegate, 11, who took over the role from toddler twins two seasons ago when the show jumped five years into the future, is out. The search is now on for a new 12-year-old actress to take over the role.

In addition, returning villain Paul Young (Mark Moses) has replaced his late wife Mary Alice (Brenda Strong) with a new young bride named Beth. While serving time in prison, Paul was contacted by a quirky lady around age 30, who eventually became his new Mrs. Beth is covering up a painful past, which we can assume Paul preyed upon.

And lastly, a new hunk is coming to Wisteria Lane who sounds like a younger version of James Denton’s Mike Delfino. Mike will be living off the Lane in a cheap apartment with wife Susan (Teri Hatcher). The new guy is a 30-year-old playboy apparently named Keith (which incidentally was the name a source told me was going to be used for Vanessa Williams’ character’s husband).

Excited about these additions? Which housewife should the new hunk seduce? Perhaps Bree (Marcia Cross), since she will be Orson-less? And with the show going to the effort to replace Penny, what do you hope they’ll do with this character who has long been part of the background scenery?

Desperate Housewives – Jane Leeves joins the Cast

121209 0715 DesperateHo1 Desperate Housewives Jane Leeves joins the Cast

Tom Scavo is finally getting professional help for that nasty mid-life crisis of his.

Desperate Housewives has inked a deal with Frasier’s Jane Leeves to play Tom’s psychotherapist in at least two episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Leeves, whose arc kicks off in late January, isn’t the first Frasier grad to pass through Wisteria Lane. Harriet Samson Harris, who played Frasier’s brash agent Bebe, recurred in Seasons 1 and 2 as Felicia Tilman. And former Frasier showrunner Joe Keenan serves as a consulting producer on DH.

Tom won’t be the only Wisterian getting psychiatric attention in early ’10. Word has it Katherine will also have her brain examined by a shrink in the new year. Better late than never!

You can fuhgeddabout widespread rumors that says Desperate Housewives is on the verge of whacking Drea de Matteo.

Per my source, the terms of de Matteo’s Housewives contract — which calls for her to appear in 20 of this season’s 23 episodes — remain unchanged.
